You see ornate carvings in the door framework. You stand in awe at the intricacy and detail still visible after much weathering. As you look around, you see that the only light source is through the dirt covered windows. You see that time has been unkind to this place. In the faint light, you see that there were once large, beautiful tapestries hanging on the walls. You also see large rugs on the floor. Farther ahead of you, you notice what appears to be a door. The smell of dust fills your lungs. You see a rather large room north of you. You gaze upon the faded wall coverings and then the carpets on the floor. There is a large window which provides the only light. You notice several large chairs and couches on which the guests could recline. The walls are decorated with paintings and tapestries. You can faintly see the courtyard through the years' accumulation of dust. A slight breeze hits your skin through the cracks around the window. The woodwork framing looks quite heavy and ornate. There is much dust covering the surface but you notice how it makes the room appear larger and more spacious. To the south you see a pile of debris which has fallen from the ceiling. You can see where rodents have used the fallen building materials for a home. Through the thick dust you can see that the floor was once quite smooth. The walls are decorated with several mirrors and paintings. They have been protected by the sheets from the damaging light streaming through the, now dirt covered, windows. You lift a corner of the sheet and see instruments you don't recognize. The wood they are made from is brittle, but you can still see the beauty of the wood grain. A large window opening to the large garden below is in this wall. You pick your way carefully past debris piles to your east and west. This was where guests would first be introduced to the host and hostess before continuing on toward one of the other rooms. You see the impressive dining room from here. To the east you see a very dark, short hallway. As you stand here you realize this is where you thought you saw a door. As you look at the wall south of you, you make out the outline of a large door. Your light source barely cuts through the thickness of the dark. You carefully shine your light on the walls and floor wondering why this hall is here. As you begin your examination of the floor you think you see a dull ring with a rope attached. As you look closer you realize there is a trap door here. But as your eyes adjust you see a tremendous stairway leading upwards. You can see a small bit of the kitchen from here which is south of the dining room. It has been covered with sheets to protect the wood from the dust and sunlight. On top of the table you see two or three candle holders. They are covered by shutters, but as the shutters have begun to fall away light begins to stream through the dust and dimly light this room. In the corners of the room you see large planters that must have once held very large plants. It is relatively small compared to the previous large rooms you have explored. It is efficiently arranged so that several servants can work and cook here. Large pans are here and there in the room, sometimes in piles where the shelves have crumpled from beneath the dishes. You find some of the castle silver service pieces very tarnished with time and nearly unrecognizable. ~ 0 0 0 D0 ~ ~ 0 0 13228 D3 ~ ~ 0 0 13231 S #13231 Castle Pantry~ In the pantry you find many large barrels. There are also very large pans stored here away from the main kitchen. You see many containers with faded and indistinguishable labels. In the corner of the room you see a door. The dust is thick here and as you continue forward you find yourself getting covered with sticky cobwebs. There are many shelves here to acoomodate a wide variety of foods and beverages. To one side are very large barrels and you wonder what once was stored there. The faint light from your lamp is minimal help in this room. The shelves are falling from the walls and you bump into them as you try to explore the room. You immediately notice that this room seems to have been untouched by time. You see very few signs of wear on the furniture. The lamps are clean and thier wicks trimmed and ready for lighting. You notice several plants that appear to still be alive. The lack of cobwebs and dust is puzzling. The room is bright and cheery compared to the darker, dustier downstairs. You look out the window to the yard below. As you explore the room, you hear the clink of metal against rock echo faintly. You brush through the many years buildup of cobwebs covering the entrance. The air here is dusty and you notice that the temperature seems to have dropped as you enter. You reach to pull your cloaks about you more securely, partially to keep warm but also as a nervous gesture as you continue your exploring. ~ 0 1 0 D1 ~ ~ 0 0 13249 D4 ~ ~ 1 0 13212 S #13252 Courtyard Entrance~ Large, overgrown flowering bushes cover the pathway. The fragrance is quite strong and nearly overwhelming. You can imagine the beauty of these bushes when groomed and tended to. ~ 0 0 0 D1 ~ ~ 0 0 13253 D3 ~ ~ 0 0 13206 S #13253 Castle Courtyard~ The courtyard was once very beautiful. You notice Marble statues standing in the corners of the courtyard. You see a very large fountain in the center of the courtyard which was once filled with water. ~ 0 0 0 D0 ~ ~ 0 0 13260 D2 ~ ~ 0 0 13254 D3 ~ ~ 0 0 13252 S #13254 Castle Courtyard~ As you continue through the courtyard you notice the low marble wall bordering the courtyard. You see several low marble benches along the wall. You stand before one of the statues you saw as you entered the courtyard. It is rather old and weather worn. ~ 0 0 0 D0 ~ ~ 0 0 13253 D1 ~ ~ 0 0 13255 S #13255 Castle Courtyard~ As you continue along the border of the courtyard, you see the fountain to your north, now quite rundown. Behind you is a low, marble bench. You sit down and rest as you imagine the people who once were entertained here. ~ 0 0 0 D1 ~ ~ 0 0 13256 D3 ~ ~ 0 0 13254 S #13256 Castle Courtyard~ Before you stands a large, marble statue. The residents of this Castle must have been grand supporters of cultural endeavors. You notice along the top of the wall several potted flowering plants somehow still living and very overgrown. ~ 0 0 0 D0 ~ ~ 0 0 13257 D3 ~ ~ 0 0 13255 S #13257 Castle Courtyard~ As you continue, you realize the courtyard is much larger than you first noticed. Behind you is another low, marble bench. To your west the very large ornate fountain. You notice the intricate detail in the sculpturing of the fountain. There are three tiers through which water once flowed. In the bottom of the fountain you see old coins thrown into the fountain by those wishing for good luck. ~ 0 0 0 D0 ~ ~ 0 0 13258 D2 ~ ~ 0 0 13256 S #13258 Castle Courtyard~ As you come around the corner of the courtyard you see the third statue standing tall. You wonder as to the tales it could tell of era's long past. You hear small birds chirping in the trees bordering the castle grounds. You smell the strong fragrance of more potted flowering plants placed near the statue. ~ 0 0 0 D2 ~ ~ 0 0 13257 D3 ~ ~ 0 0 13259 S #13259 Castle Courtyard~ You are now standing near the north wall of the courtyard. Behind you, another marble bench for resting and visting. To your south you see the fountain. You sit here on the bench and listen to the birds chirping nearby. ~ 0 0 0 D1 ~ ~ 0 0 13258 D3 ~ ~ 0 0 13260 S #13260 Castle Courtyard~ You stand quietly before one of the statues you noticed as you entered the courtyard. It is large and worn with age and weather. The scent of the bushes near the entrance is still quite strong here. ~ 0 0 0 D1 ~ ~ 0 0 13259 D2 ~ ~ 0 0 13253 S #13261 Castle Garden~ As you enter from the castle pathway you notice tall grasses in the garden area. There are several flowering bushes growing here with many different colors of flowers. You notice numerous bees buzzing about the flowers. As you glance down, you see a grass nest at the base of the bush, probably made by a mouse or other small rodent. ~ 0 0 0 D0 ~ ~ 0 0 13261 D3 ~ ~ 0 0 13263 S #13263 Castle Garden~ The castle garden is rather large and for the amount of time that you assume has passed, it seems not as overgrown as it should. The trees and flowers are untrimmed but still have an appearance that care has been taken here with the various plants. ~ 0 0 0 D0 ~ ~ 0 0 13264 D1 ~ ~ 0 0 13262 S #13264 Castle Garden~ You stand at the edge of the flower garden. As you gaze past the flowers, it appears there was a small vegetable garden to provide the residents with fresh foods. There is a very large bush here with many small flowers covering it, but you manage to push past to the rest of the garden. ~ 0 0 0 D1 ~ ~ 0 0 13261 D2 ~ ~ 0 0 13263 D3 ~ ~ 0 0 13265 S #13265 Castle Garden~ You stand at the edge of the once large vegetable garden. You see now it is so over grown in areas you can't walk there. The patch in which you stand was once hills of various squashes. You carefully walk through the many vines to continue on. ~ 0 0 0 D1 ~ ~ 0 0 13264 D3 ~ ~ 0 0 13266 S #13266 Castle Garden~ You have finally made it through the many flowering plants and the squash hills. You see before you several odd pepper type plants. They have grown tall and are bending under the weight of the plants produce. Unlike the appearance of the squash, this section almost seems to have been cared for. To your west you see a small building. ~ 0 0 0 D1 ~ ~ 0 0 13265 D2 ~ ~ 0 0 13267 S #13267 Castle Garden~ Time seems to have stood still in this last part of the garden. The plants are pruned and trimmed and produce has been picked regularly. An eery feeling comes over you as you wonder about this garden. To the west you see a short path leading to a small shack. ~ 0 0 0 D0 ~ ~ 0 0 13266 D3 ~ ~ 0 0 13268 S #13268 A Short Garden Path~ You cautiously walk toward the small shack. Along the sides of the path you see large piles of very smelly compost used for fertilizing the garden. Flies are numerous here among the decaying vegetation. There are gardeners tools hanging neatly on the walls and a watering can is in the corner. You also see a large basket used for carrying the freshly picked produce. You can see a small cot and table against the wall. There is an old lamp on the wall.
