Certainly. Mush Client might have most of the features CMUD had, and some which CMUD doesn't have, but the main reason I've known a lot of people to prefer CMUD over Mush is Mush's UI is nowhere near as user friendly or aesthetically pleasing.

A good alternative is Mudlet which is probably closer to CMUD in terms of UI than Mushclient is. It's cross platform and open source too.

I prefer tinyfugue's UI, which is far more ascthetically pleasing for a text game. :)

Alas, development on tf stopped quite a while ago too.
