This is the precompiled version of LambdaMOO for Linux, version 1.8.0p5-1 (note: the last number represents the number of this precompiled package). It was put together (kind of in a hurry) by Matthew Campbell (matthewc@solgate.com). Palo Alto, CA 94304 Pavel@Xerox.Com This server has been compiled to run on an ELF-based Linux system. It has support for TCP/IP networking and outbound network connections, and the default port is 8888. Unforked checkpoints are turned on (MOO operation will temporarily stop during checkpoints), and the pattern cache and I/O buffers are reduced to save memory and load on the system. These settings may change later if there is demand for such change. I have included both versions of the restart script ('restart' is for the C shell; 'restart.sh' is for the Bourne shell). I modified both of them to use gzip for compression of old databases. To start the MOO, type: "restart" (or "restart.sh" if necessary), followed by the base name for the MOO databases and log, and optionally a port number for incoming connections (the default in this package is 8888). Also remember that unless you want to write a MOO core from scratch, you will need to get one. You can get the latest LambdaCore database from: ftp://parcftp.xerox.com/pub/MOO/LambdaCore-latest.db.Z I think that's about it. If you have questions, comments, suggestions, problems, etc., please email me. Enjoy, Matthew Campbell (MattC on LambdaMOO)
