A couple months ago there was a thread about weather a person should get a degree or not. I have my opinions, but that is a different subject.
I friend (who is also a professor) found this article. An interesting read. I haven't formed an opinion on its material yet, but I thought I would share it and see what other opinions are.
I worked in for-profit, online education for 6 years before going to work at a traditional university and it was coming, gosh, 7-8 years ago. The more education is able to focus on the student needs, the better it will be. About 4 years ago, it really started to become student focused, and that only benefits the learner.
The "problem" is that the classes are credit-free, which means they won't replace non-MOOC classes. However, it makes a lot of basic information available to students and is another great method for students to receive content another way if they are having problems understanding what their professor is teaching.
