Hello,
I have short 1-3 hour coding tasks that I am uncomfortable handling myself.
I prefer either support tickets or IM conversation to forums.
It would be nice (but too expensive) if I could work directly with a IT company, I would pay an hourly rate for per instance support.
In brief I am looking for an individual or company who will take on a 1 hour project within a 24 hour time frame.
Any ideas?

You might try freelancer.com.

I've had some success in sourcing developers for small jobs.

Once you develop a relationship with them you can access them more directly through skype, etc. At least, that has been my experience.

edit: Just to be clear, I haven't hired developers for MUDs there so if domain expertise is required it may take some time for them to get comfortable with a codebase.
