&CCommunication is one of the most important factors in this game. To allow
for the best possible communication, the immortals have coded several channels
to allow your message to go to the intended audience. You also have the ability
to shut off channels you do not want to use. For a list of all the channels 
available to you, type "channel". To turn on a channel, type "chan +<channel>"
and to turn off a channel, type "chan -<channel>". For instance, chan -chat 
would turn off chat channel. You can also turn off all channels at once by 
typing "chan -all" and turn on all channels by typing "chan +all". 
The following is a list of channels, their purpose and how to use them. 
              ***COMLINK IS REQUIRED TO USE CHANNELS*** 
SAY - This is a channel used to talk to a person with whom you are in the 
same room. You type "say <message>" or ' message to use. 
TELL - This channel is used to talk to a single person, they do not have to be
in the same room with you. You type "tell 0.[person] <message>". When a person
sends a tell to you, or a Someone tells to you, you may send a tell back to 
them by using "reply <message>". Warning! reply sends a message to the last 
person who sends you a tell. So, if a tells comes in while you are typing, 
your reply will go to that person, so use reply sparingly. 
YELL - This channel is seen by other people in your area, those people who 
show up on "where" and have yell channel on will hear your yell. To use, 
type "yell <message>".

&COOC - This channel is meant for OOC messages(Out of character) meaning
stuff that doesn't relate to your roleplaying and such. This is the 
only channel that can use this stuff except tell. See "look 19" 
for info on RP. 
SHOUT - This channel is seen by anyone on the mud who has the channel on.
You may use the channel by typing "shout <message>". 
CHAT - This is the most commonly used channel. The purpose of this channel
is general chatter. This channel is heard by anyone who has the channel on.
To use, type "chat <message>" or . message.   
MUSIC - This channel is used to recite lyrics from music you like to listen
to. This channel is heard by anyone who has the channel on. To use, type 
"music <message>". Try not to spam the channel with macro'd lyrics. Keep the
language CLEAN. You may use ONLY symbols to replace profanity, not letters 
and symbols mixed. 
QUEST - This channel is used to have quests or "mud games". This channel is
heard by anyone who has the channel on. To use, type "quest <message>".

&CAUCTION - This channel is used to buy and sell items between players. For  
details on use, type HELP AUCTION. Note: You NEED a Auclink to use the 
Auction Network 
SOCIAL - Also available to you are socials and emote. To get a complete list of
social commands, type "social". An emote is a personalized social, starting 
with your name. Socials and emotes are seen by all people in the room. 
To use a social, type "social" or "social [person]". To use an emote, type 
"emote <message>" or , <message>. 
GROUP - When you are grouped, you can talk to other members of the group 
by typing "gtell <message>" 
CLAN - Once you join a clan, you also have a private clan channel to talk 
to your fellow clan members. Each clan has their own clantalk channel. To use,
type "clan <message>". 
COUNCIL - Councils are now families with the exception of the Senate 
this is to talk between members. 
counciltalk type "cou <message>". 
WARTALK - This channel is seem by all players in UR, but is dedicated 
to bantering between pkill players.  This channel has all the same language 
and harassment laws as all other channels.  To use the channel, type 
"war <message>". 
TUNE - Tune to a private frequency for multiple players #'s 1 - 99
TALK - Talk in your private frequency.

&CMovement is very important because it covers going from one room to another
as well as one place in the galaxy to another(Except when using Spacecraft;for
travel). There are various things that affect your movement. This will  
cover your movement choices and some of the things that affect your movement. 
Movement is even the act of not moving, like sleep. The basic moves are  
directions, n, e, s, w, d, and u, as well as ne, nw, se, and sw. Also a  
new exit type "Somewhere", where you type a word or "leave" word to use.  
STAND - This command allows you to stand up so you can move. 
REST -  This stops movement and allows you a slighty faster regeneration of hp,
mana and movement points than standing. You must stand to stop resting. 
SIT -   This stops movement and allows you a slighty faster regeneration of hp,
mana and movement points than resting. You must stand to stop sitting. 
SLEEP - When sleeping you can not receive tells or see anything that is going 
on in the room you are occupying. This is the best position for hp, 
mana and movement point recovery. You must wake to stop sleeping. 
WAKE -  This commands will stop you from sleeping, sitting or resting. Once 
you wake, you can move. 
Force Sight -  This is a force skill that allows you to look inside an
adjoining room. 
this spell allows you to see the room as if you were standing in it. 
SCAN -  This is a skill that allows you to look inside an adjoining room. This
does not give as much information as scry.

&CEXIT -  This is not an actual movement, but very helpful for getting an idea
of what the rooms next to you are. Type "exits" to use. 
FLOAT - A force spell similar to fly. It is like a levitation spell. 
CLIMB - Needed to use certain exit types. It is used automatically. 
TRACK - Used to track mobiles or players within an area. 
Often you will encounter doors, and want to pass without a key. Here are some
things that make that possible. 
PICK LOCK - This is a smuggling skill that picks the lock. 
doorbash -  This is a combat skill that knocks a door from its hinges, you can

and will take damage from using this skill. 
PASS DOOR - This is a force spell cast on a player, allowing them to pass
through

WEIGHT -    The more you carry, the more movement points it takes to move.
FLEE -      Lack of movement points can adversly affect your ability to flee.
Do not start a rough fight if you are very low in moves. 
FLY -       This spell reduces the amount of movement points it takes to move.

HAIL - Takes you to the nearest hotel 
Vehicles and Speeders: 
You may use land vehicles such as speeders, land crawlers etc. 
Drive (direction) - Used with land based vehicles

&CFighting and Combat are the easiest levels to attain here. This section
of the guide will teach you how to fight. If you can take the mob and 
how to run away to fight another day.  
***** Preparing for a fight ***** 
LOCATIONS -   You do not necessarily want to gain levels by killing the 
      inhabitants of a planet as it may upset clans who rule over it 
Holodecks are the safest place to level at however they get 
predictable eventually and you must seek real experience. 
The Highwind is a good place to level at. Type Highwind for 
its location. 
SPELLS -      If your a force user by all means cast protective spells 
upon yourself and ready yourself for a fight. if not maybe 
you could find a kind jedi to do it on you.  
HEALS -       There are seveal items that heal in the game such as First Aid
Kits, 
salves, potions, pills. Its a good idea to have a few of these on 
hand.

&C***** During the fight ***** 
During the fight is a perfect time to use your spells and skills, they
damage the mobs more then just your weapon alone. A lot of your skills are
automatic, and require you to do nothing for them to work. In addition to
your spells and/or skills, you may find some explosives and stun gas 
useful during a fight.  
Sometimes a mob with a blaster will flee and fire at you from another 
room, You must either chase them or if your low on hp, Run! 
  
FLEE -     Flee is the command that will make you run from a fight. To use,
type FLEE. This will take you to a room ajoining the room your were 
fighting in. This WILL make you lose experience, but is a better 
option than dying.  
WIMPY -    This is the command that will flee you automatically when set. To
set your wimpy, type "wimpy" and it will set your wimpy to about 
twenty percent of your maximum hitpoints. You may also set your  
wimpy to a desired hitpoint by typing "wimpy #". You do lose exp. 
when your wimpy makes you flee, so do not set it too high. 
HAIL -     fleeing then hailing is a very good strategy to get away from 
a tough mob. It lands you at a hotel which is a safe room and 
you can quit if you want.

&CLOOK - Looking at the room and the mob itself is very important for seeing
if the mob is tough. To see the mobs shields and the room description,  
type "look". You want to have matching shields to reduce the damage  
you take from the fight. For instance, if the mob has thundershield, you  
will be damaged everytime you hit the mob unless you have thundershield  
also. Also, type "look [mob]" to see what equipment and/or weapons  
the mob is wearing. The better the equipment, the more chance that  
the mob has spells and rougher attacks.  
                    ***** Starting the fight *****  
KILL -   The easiest way to start a fight is using kill. To do this just type
"kill [mob]". This can not be used against another player.  
MURDER - This command lets you kill players as well as mobs. Use it in  
the same syntax as kill and remember you NEED a In Character reason  
to kill a player.  
SPELLS - You may start a fight with certain spells, like dispel magic, faerie
fire, curse, poison and weaken. If you use any of these spells against  
a player, it will start a fight with them. You can also start fights   
with regular attack spell, such as fireball, harm and choke  
similar spells.

Explosives - Grenades, Thermal Detonators and Mines do damage  
players and mobs. Mobs will chase after you and attack you once hit 
just as they would if you attacked them normally.  
Sniping - Sniping is firing a blaster from another room. Mobs will 
chase after you and players will too, unless their stupid.  
Throwings - Throwing Weapons like vibro-blades and such will produce 
the same effect as sniping except usually with more damage.

&CSome part of your time will be dedicated to finding good clothes or
Equipment. 
There is equipment for every need, at low levels you usually want equipment
to boost your stats, to allow for the maximum growth at each level. As you
get higher level it gets more complicated and intense, you then have to think
more about armor class, hitpoints, fp, saves, hitroll and damroll modifiers 
on the equipment. Also, a lot of the better equipment has anti-alignment and
anti-class flags. For anti-alignment flags, you may put them on when your 
alignment correct for that piece of eq, then it may zap you and fall to the 
ground once your alignment changes. Anti-class flags simply prevents you 
from wearing a piece of equipment not meant for your class.  
Following will show equipment slots, how to wear and remove equipment and about
equipment damage and repair. 
SLOTS -     There are two equipment setups, one for those who have dual wield 
and one for those who do not. When you dual wield, you lose the 
ability to wear a shield and hold something in your hand during the 
time you are wielding a second weapon. To see what a complete 
list of equipment position slots look like, type LOOK SETS. 
INVENTORY - To see what you are carrying type "inventory" or "i". This shows 
you all the items you have but are not currently wearing. Items 
are counted from bottom up, you wear things from the bottom first.

&CCOMPARE - This command compares the armor class of two items. To use you wear
one of the items and type "compare [item]" for the item in your 
inventory you want to compare to the one you are wearing. 
Hint-This only compares armor class, not affects. Use the spell 
"know essence" or scanners to get a better idea 
WEAR -    This is the command that allows you to take equipment from your 
inventory and place it on your body. This can be done one piece at a 
time by typing "wear [item]" or all your equipment at once by typing 
"wear all". Wear all places only the first item type for each slot 
on you. 
WIELD -   This is the command to wield a weapon. Unlike wear, you must remove 
the weapon you are wielding before wielding another weapon. To use, 
type "wield [weapon]".

&CREMOVE -  This is the command to remove weapons and equipment from its wear 
position to your inventory. To use, type "remove [item]". 
HOLD -    This command makes you hold an item from your inventory, this command
may only be used when not dual wielding and only for items that have 
a hold flag. To use, type "hold [item]". 
EXAM -    This command is used to look closely at an item, to see if it has 
any damage. The examine command is used by typing "exam [item]". 
REPAIR -  This command is used to fix broken, but not scrapped, equipment. 
You may only repair at a blacksmiths and it is a good idea to do so 
often. To use, remove item to inventory and type "repair [item]". 
ARM -     Use this to make a grenade active. Get rid of it quickly by throwing
it. 
THROW -   This allows you to throw something you are holding in a direction or
in the room. type throw just to throw it in the room you are in. Type 
"Throw [Item] [Direction]" to throw it to another room.

&CSpacecraft is the most conventional way of getting between planets 
and starsystems. Speed and ships various stat affects how it handles. 
Here you will learn the basics of flying a ship, From controlling speed 
to making better accurate hyperspace jumps. You learn it all here. 
Spacecraft are separated into three classes: 
Starfighters - Small, Swift, Nimble, Weak 
Mid-Targets - In between starfighter and Capital Ships 
Capital Ships - Huge, Sluggish, Strong 
They have stats just like players do as well. 
Lasers - Amount of laser cannons, Affects how many times you can fire 
per round. They detract from the energy reserve in the ship. 
  
Energy - The amount of energy your ship has to function. Ie Hyperspace 
fly... use weapons.. life support... etc. 
Missiles/Rockets/Torpedos - Extra Ordinance you can fire. You can only 
fire one of these per round. The order for damage is Missiles Torpedos 
Rockets. Thats from least to greatest. 
Ion Cannons - Best used when shields are low, Used to knock out ship 
systems like the maindrive or turrets or missile launchers.

and exploding.  
Chaff - How much chaff you have to explode missiles and such before  
they approach your ship.  
  
Turrets - Quad Laser turrets you can target independantly different  
ships allowing large ships to attack several ships at once.   
Speed - How fast your ship is capable of at Sublight Speed  
Hyperspeed - How fast your ship is capable of in Hyperspace  
Manueverability - How manueverable/agile/nimble your ship is  
Ie, how fast can it turn around, evade laser fire. etc

Learning to use your Comlink~
&CYour comlink is one of your most vital items as it lets you send and  
receive holonet and galactic net signals. It allows you to communicate  
with others over great distances. There are several channels in your

on various channels by typing &R&WChan -(name of channel)&C The way to  
use these cannels is to type their name followed by a message example  
is chat Hello everybody. It sends a global message spanning the galaxy

Status Monitoring~

Death and Cloning 101~
&CDeath in Unknown Regions is permanent. Meaning he looses his ship.
eq and house(s). However. You can create a clone of yourself to 
play when you die. This is done in the wayland system. Your clone 
is not the same person as your former self icly. but beware. If your
former self had enemies. They can still come after your clone. Death
can come in a series of ways... Starvation.. Poison... Dieing in a space
fight.. Dying in combat... and they are all permanent. It is a good 
idea to clone often so you have a more recent version of yourself  
The clone only clones you at the time you cloned.. so if you gained 
levels after you cloned and die. You will have to relevel.

Functions of your ship during Space Combat. 
Ion Cannons - These knock out a ship's systems and work best when a ship

have a limited supply of these. They can be deterred by deploying
chaff which causes them to explode before they can hit you

Recharging your Shields - Recharge your shields frequently in combat
if they are getting low. Try to manage your energy consumption as
your ship has limited energy and recharging eats energy. 
  
Knowing when to run - Usually one X-Wing against a Star Destroyer is never
good. So know how strong your foe is, both ship wise and his skill in flying
before you engage someone. 
  
Autotrack - Once you have targetted someone "Target <Someone>" then you
type autotrack. It makes your ship automatically follow theirs in an attack
vector.

vehicles. You can see several Wraith Trainers as well as some  
Valkeryie Trainers waiting to be launched. In the distance you  
can spot several probes waiting to be destroyed and the other

Learning to RP~
&CRPing is Roleplaying. When you are in the game you are roleplaying
Roleplaying meaning you ARE the character in the game, Your not playing
a game, your living in it. For example you wouldn't say anything thats
IRL(in real life). Like what was on tv last night and such over IC 
(in character) channels. There is an OOC(Out of Character) channel that
can only be used when in a hotel or home. When you kill a person it  
must be IC not OOC. Killing over OOC things is strictly prohibited.&w

Combat Commands~
This room explains about WIMPY, FLEE, and RECALL as a way to leave from
combat. Wimpy is an automatic withdrawal from a fight when your hitpoints
reach a set minimum. To set your wimpy, type WIMPY or WIMPY <number>. The
number being the amount of hitpoints you want remaining when you leave the
battle. You will lose experience for wimpying out of a fight, but the amount
of experience lost will generally be less then the amount lost from death.
You may also manually withdraw from a fight with flee. To use flee, just
type FLEE. You may flee out of the fight at any amount of hitpoints. Fleeing
will cost you loss of experience. You may also "recall" from a fight. This
is done with the spell "word of recall" or reciting a recall scroll. You 
lose more experience when you recall from a fight then when you use wimpy
or flee. Recall should be used as a last resort.

Time To Take A Break~
This is a safe room in which you may take a REST or SLEEP.  To get out of
sleeping WAKE and to stop resting STAND.  Your character will also get
hungry and thirsty from time to time.  In this room just say food or drink
to get your meal.  To eat food type EAT <whatever> to drink something type
DRINK <whatever>.  Also you can FILL your drink containers from fountains.

The Basement~
Sometimes an item may apear useless at first. There are many junk items that
are worthless but some might just come in handy. Try making small talk with
this student. He seems to have found something that might proove useful to
you.
 
Sometimes one item may be found inside another. To look into an object that
is a container use: LOOK IN <container>. To get an item from a
container use: GET <item> FROM <container>. To put an item in a container
use: PUT <item> IN <container>. Sometimes you will also need to OPEN
<container> as well.

Up in a Small Loft~
Sometimes items can be obtained by manipulating other items. Some classes
can make items from other ones using skills such as MAKEBLASTER, MAKESPICE,
or MAKELIGHTSABER. Other times it is as simple as opening a box or pushing
a button as is the case in this room.

Looting Your Kills~
The most common way in most muds to gain equipment is by looting the
corpses of dead mobiles(monsters etc). After you kill this droid use
EXAMINE CORPSE to see what it was carrying. Then use GET ALL FROM CORPSE
to get the goodies from it. To automaticly loot corpses when you kill
something you can set CONFIG +AUTOLOOT or CONFIG +AUTOCRED for just
credits.

Academy Store~
Shops are a great way of aquiring equipment and getting rid of extras.
To get a list of what a shopkeeper is selling type LIST. To buy an item
type BUY <objectname>. If you have extra equipment or have found something
that you want to sell type SELL <object>. To find out how much a shopkeeper
will buy something for type VALUE <object>.
 
One of the more useful items in this shop is the backpack. Once you have
bought one you can put any extra items you have in it for safe keeping.
You may also wear it. If you don't have enough credits to buy anything try
getting some from the droid a couple of rooms to the east.

Finding Items~
A major part to the game is finding equipment.  Sometimes it will be worse,
which you shouldn't keep.  Other times it will be better, which will help

The Last Challange~

Graduating from the Academy~
Congradulations you did it .. line up and get your diploma.   You are in a
long wide hallway. The floor is covered in a plush red carpet. The walls
are made of a tansparent duraplast and come together to form dome over
your head. Looking out the window you notice that the hallway in fact a
catwalk connecting the academy to a small landing platform at the end. You
can't look much more than 20 or 30 levels into the city depths below as
many walkways criss-cross between the buildings obscuring your view of the
lower levels. Looking up you see several cloudcars slowly navigating
coruscants many skyscrapers. A stairway at the end of the hall slopes up
towards the docking bay. It is the only exit other than the door behind
you, back into the academy.

Academy Docking Bay~
Detached from the rest of the Academy to leave room for ships to manuever,
this docking bay is large enough to hold four or five shuttles. The space
above is clear and you can see the clouds above you. Anyone launching
a shuttle from here would have to fly straight though as several larger
buildings box in the sides of the docking bay no less 30 feet out on each
side. The noise of the city is blends together forming a loud pulsing hum
pushing in from all directions. There is a slight and very rare breeze
blowing down beetween the buildings and across the pad. It is an odd
feeling in such a boxed in environment.
 
There is a small shuttle here waiting to take you home. To board it type
ENTER.

The Shuttle home~
You are in a small single compartment shuttle. The passenger seats are
directly behind the pilots chair and slightly raised to give you a
nice view for your journey. The seats recline back into a sleeping
position in case you get tired. A small pantry and a restroom are at
the back of the cabin.   The purpose of this shuttle is to take the
newly graduated students home. Its a bit of a luxury compared to the
rest of your stay at the academy. It must be as much for apearances
as it is to honor the graduates. You will need to give your diploma
to the driver before he will launch... Wouldn't want to spend this
much money on drop outs. If you don't have a diploma yet type LEAVE,
and then go look for the schoolmaster.

Some Important Words of Advice~
A very important thing to learn about early is cloning. Death is permanent.
When you die you loose everything. However... somewhere deep in the core
worlds is a place that creates and stores the clones of those who are
willing to pay a small fee. Having a clone makes a back up of your
character at the moment of cloning that can be used in the event of an
untimely death. My advice is to find the cloning facilities as soon as
possible and make a new clone at least every five levels. Death is a lot
less painful when you loose 5 levels as opposed to having to start over
from the beginning.
&GNote: Cloning does not save items or credits, so beware.&W

Preparing for Space Combat~
Space combat is more dangerous than fighting on the ground, as one or the
other is sure to die. Maybe there is  possibility of disabling the ship,
but that's only if your ship has ion cannons. Space combat  cannot be done
until you gain sufficient piloting levels. When you attain Space Combat 1
and  Weapon Systems, you will have the power to fire your lasers and
missiles.  To fire your lasers, simply type FIRE. FIRE can also be used to
fire missiles, rockets, or torpedos. For these, simply type FIRE
<rockets/missiles/torpedos>. You will have to wait for the launcher to
reload before firing again. To target a ship, type TARGET <ship> and type
AUTOTRACK to keep facing it. You cannot fire lasers or  missiles without
facing the ship to be destroyed.
