The carpeting here is far more worn than it is in the rest of the chamber. The portraits here depict strange beast that seem to defy nature itself. Horses with the head of chickens and alligators with the arms of humans. Under the pictures there is a phrase written neatly... The scrollwork going up the back is quite elegant. Directly above this throne hangs a portrait of a great mage holding sway over a huge black wyrm. Your ears strain to pick up even the faintest of sounds, but nothing can be made out. Bereft of your hearing, you can feel your other senses begin to heighten. Your eyes bulge forward, and skitter back and forth at alert... straining to pick up everything. You get a sensation like your skin was crawling and your hairs bristling up in eager anticipation. Not far in the distance you can feel some unseen force, and it seems to be approaching... Watching... Waiting for you to let your guard down. Small crystals of ice form before your eyes on the elaborate paneling here. You notice that every few minutes the perspective in the room seems to sway, as if you are moving closer, then further. It seems that this occurs at around the same time that some strange electrical force lifts the hairs on your head. It appears to be quite fresh. Upon closer examination you can see that the blood trails to the wall and then proceeds up the side to the ceiling. From the ceiling it drips back to the floor and slowly moves toward the wall, in an endless cycle. You stumble towards the wall to steady yourself as a wave of dizziness overcomes you. Inhaling deeply you begin to feel happier... Things begin to seem funny. Glancing at the wall you see portraits of strange aquatic creatures engaging in fornication. You bellow in laughter although you find no humour in it. You realize that the cause must be the strange air... The carpeting in the northern hallway seems damp and the walls have small droplets of water on them. Tasting the drops you find the water salty, as if it came from the sea. Not far to the north you can hear the sounds of the surf crashing into the land. You can even make out the faint cry of gulls and other sea birds. To the east rises a solid wall of water. You instinctively reach for your weapon as the hairs on the nape of your neck begin to rise. This room seems to be filled to the brim of bursting hatred and malign intent. The floor is shrouded in a series of strange mists. The swirl begins to draw you attention... Its walls are inlaid with mother of pearl and there are several tapestries depicting any number of seascapes. A large cavern is shown with a school of strange fish leaving it's darkness behind. The fish glow with an inner light, as if they are happy in their lives under the deep. ~ D3 ~ ~ 0 0 15147 S #15150 Corridor of Gates~ Soft breezes tickle your face, seeming to come from everywhere and nowhere. Glancing around, you see the walls retreat, then approach as if locked in some magical dance. Slowly you feel your consciousness begin to fade, you quickly slap yourself to gain back your control. The walls are smooth and black, as if charred and then polished to a shine. You deftly run your hand along one of the walls and you pull it back, bleeding. Looking upon the wall, you notice a spike slowly returning to its hiding place. There is a set of gallows here, and it drips with fresh blood. Upon closer examination though, it is gone. An illusion, perhaps? The room seems to be emulating with the fears of it's occupants. You can hear eight distinct growls coming from behind the door, yet you hear only one creature moving about. You wonder briefly as to what make of creature this must be. The floor is damp and the air smells stale and fetid. You look down and see the bones of past travelers littering the room. Most are cracked or entirely destroyed. There is a large black door directly to the east, and you can hear the sounds of flapping coming from within. Every available surface is cracked and filled with holes. Piles of mortar cover the floor and pieces of the ceiling continue to fall around you. The floor is made from black flagstones but not one flagstone is whole.
