You stand in the archway of a gigantic stone archway. The two
steel gates look indestructible, yet they are elaborate in engravings.  You can
hear laughter and good cheer from the other side of these gates.  Obviously, 
the city is teeming with activity!  There is a small gold plaque on mounted
on the archway.

This is the main reception area of Thalos' city hall. The walls have

The Temple Of Midgaard~
You are in the southern end of the temple hall in the Temple of Midgaard.
The temple has been constructed from giant marble blocks, eternal in
appearance, and most of the walls are covered by ancient wall paintings
picturing Gods, Giants and peasants.
   Large steps lead down through the grand temple gate, descending the huge
mound upon which the temple is built and ends on the temple square below.
   You notice that this building is quite new.  A small plaque is on this wall.

The Morgue~
The room you have entered was probably originally built as a meeting
chamber of some sort.  The half dozen long, narrow tables in it look
suspiciously like dining tables.  Now, it apparently functions as the
morgue.  Row upon row of cadavers are neatly organized by race, and by size,
and laid upon the tables.  The air is a little stale, but not unpleasantly
so, yet the pungent scent of embalming fluid assails your nostrils.  The
unusually large number of corpses in this room seem a little odd.  You begin
to wonder whether the dead are buried at all in this forsaken city.

The Entrance to the Guild~
A solitary grey marble table occupies the larger portion of this room. 
Upon its expansive surface you see three corpses laid side by side, each in
various stages of dissection.  Four thick wax candles flicker as they drip
copious amounts of wax on the faded tile floor.  They seem to provide the
only only illumination in this dingy chamber.

The Entrance to the Guild~
You have entered a dark and gloomy alcove off of the main room.  An
immense hearth is set into the north wall, and a number of rusted hooks are
suspended from the ceiling, a withered and petrified side of pork yet hangs
from one.  No doubt that this room served at one time as a kitchen, with the
large room to the east functioning as a dining hall.  Yet the windows are
shored up with cinder blocks, allowing not a single ray of light into the
place.  Against the back wall on the floor lies a trapdoor, which most
likely leads to the cellar.
