On the Southern Road directly outside Lukhan~
The walls of the city of Lukhan open here onto the Southern Road.  Inside
the city can be seen towers of various types.  The noise of the city even
reaches out into the road here.  The road stretchs off far to the south
through the hills.  A {Rsign{w is posted here, and a {Yplaque{x is mounted
near the gate.

The Minot Trail~
For travellers from the north, the road deteriorates greatly a this
point.  The cobble paving gives way to a levelled dirt surface, which is
often turned into mud.  The path is widened to the east where wagons have
been veering around a particularly nasty rut.

The Minot Trail~
The road runs right up to a massive gate which blocks further tavel in
this direction.  Weeds grow around the bottom of the gate, and chains with
links the size of a man criss-cross the gate, rusted together to form a
nearly solid barrier.  From both sides, and extending above the gate, a huge
mirror-black wall blocks the way.  The wall seems to reach into the very
heavens themselves, and appears to be impassible.
