Updating player structures -------------------------- You'll eventually find that you need to increase the size of the player structure to accodomate new features. This file shows you how: To add a new field simply do the following. There is examples for adding an integer and a string: 1. Add it in the player structure (player.h) eg. int integer; char string[50]; /* Doesn't have to be 50 - could be anything! */ 2. Add it to the load function (in plists.c) using get_int_safe (for ints) or get_char_safe (for strings) eg. r = get_int_safe(&p->integer, r); r = get_string_safe(p->string, r); 3. Add it into the save player function (in plists.c) eg. stack = store_int(stack, p->integer); stack = store_string(stack, p->string); When you reboot the talker and load any pfiles of the "old" type then they will be automatically converted to the "new" type. Before you boot up make backups of the pfiles just in case anything goes wrong. Richard Lawrence (aka Silver) 11th January 1998
