The decayed mess of the main tower of the castle lies before you as you stand in the dirty courtyard.  The courtyard itself is a large, roughly circular area which once separated the castle from the small villages that use to thrive around it.

Looking around the courtyard now, you begin to notice smaller details.  Small empty stalls have been left by various traders <footnote 1>.
