observe happenings in the area.

from north to southwest, where it disappears around the curve of a wooded

hill.  A curtain of dark trees looms off to the west.

A few large rocks mark this otherwise nondescript wooded hilltop, their

slate gray forms embedded in the earth by some ancient terrestrial

upheaval.  To the north, the ground continues to be hilly, while to the

west the woods grow progressively more dense.  Down a slight slope to the

east is an open meadow, and to the east of that meadow you spy the walls

of Chiiron, looming in the distance.

a unformly green canopy shields the forest floor from the sky.  Spindly

branches reach out like fingers to the sky, blocking out the light and

wind, keeping the air here cool and damp.  A small trickling stream flows

from northeast to southwest, between aged roots and rocks, drifting ever

deeper into the woods.

A Thick Forest of Oaks and Elms~
You stand amidst a massive line of oaks and elms which marks the edge of

the forest.  Small bushes crowd around you underfoot, while to the south

the trees and shrubbery are thinner.  The same is true to the north,

where tall blades of grass line what appears to be a small pond.  High

overhead in a branch of an oak, a small robin nests on a few of her eggs.

The South Shore of a Duck Pond~
Tall, wide-leafed blades of grass grow high around you, unmolested by the

fauna of the area.  Clovers grow in clumps nearby beside a few sunflowers. 

To the south a line of trees marks the edge of a forest, the nearly

impenetrable wall of oaks and elms stretching to the east and west around

a small pond to the north.  The greenish water's south shore here is

lined with wet, slimy rocks which looks extremely slippery and yet should

not be too hard to cross.

Woods - Overgrown Path, Near Mansion~
A large, once-grand mansion lies directly to the north.  Bits of glass

and fabric lie strewn on the ground near what were large windows.  These

gaping holes are now mostly covered up with bits of board.  The house

itself is most massive, and built of light grey stone.  It is surrounded

by a low green shrub, the trimming of which must have been the full-time

job of at least one gardener.  A large wooden door once sealed the house

from the outside world; now it looks like it barely can stay on its

hinges.  A large path leads east-west from the house, bordered by

lovely fruit trees.

Lit by scores of torches high overhead, this massive cavern stretches out

in all direction from a pool below.  The floor of the cave is covered

with hay and is quite warm.  Small bits of featherstuff litter the

cavern, blowing wisp-like in a slight breeze which sometimes sets the
