Bold stone spires reach up to grasp the clouds, situated around the pale yellow dome of the main structure. Flanking it on either side are two bronze sentinel statues. They bear no armor, weapon, or adornment, but instead hold their arms out in a gesture of peace and love. The doors are heavy, but seem to swing easily by some bit of magic. The wagon is firmly rutted in deep tracks, as if it hasn't been moved for several weeks. A team of laborers refreshes the stock in the bins and shelves as the merchant himself barters loudly. It's a sparsely decorated marble room with an enormous archway on the north wall that looks into the main area of the shrine. There are large sitting pillows strewn about haphazardly. A bronze statue sits in a small alcove on the southern wall. Water flows through her hands and drips from her fingertips into a sweet, fragrant bowl at her feet. This is said to be the main prayer, and meditation area of the shrine. The dazzling colored rays of light pierce into the shrine below and illuminate the solemn marble columns and floors with a warm glow. The Altar of Mnera is to the north. The exits of the shrine are back south. Lacquered wood slats run from one end to the other, and the stone walls are pearly white. Each has a brightly burning silver flame at the end. The grand hall continues east and west. Dark wood beams criss-cross above in the strangely pitched ceiling. A still life sits on the northern wall, opposite a massive oak door on the south wall. A monk's living quarters reside there. Only special ranking members of the shrine's order are given leave to live within the shrine itself. It takes a particularly adept devotee to attain this honor. It branches off to the north, where set within a stone alcove lay a spiral staircase leading up. In the middle of the floor here is a circular mural done in painting and etched relief. There is a small metallic guard rail surrounding it, so that hapless folks do not sully the portraiture. The grand hall continues to the east and west. It stretches on to the east and the west in a particular splendor. The south wall of this area has a heavy wooden door leading into an acolyte's private quarters. When the body of the original Keeper was discovered, mangled and partially destroyed, they built a grave of honor for him beneath the new Shrine of Mnera. The room is simple, carved into living limestone with little adornment, but the location is very grandiose. There is a small alcove on the north wall where the body may rest, were it to rest. There are strange potsherds and broken artifacts about, pieces of detritus and other debris have been fused into the walls, perhaps by the magical fireball that sundered the original shrine. A bed mat is on the southern wall. There is a chest at the foot of the mat with an incense burning cup. To the point that it would seem some of the more subtle nuances of the vow to Mnera all devotees take may have been lost somewhat on him. There is an exquisite stuffed mattress on a raised wooden track against the south wall, with a palm frond display overarcing it. An enormous writing desk dominates the eastern wall with a comfortable looking stuffed chair tucked underneath. He also has amassed a tidy book collection that sits organized within a deprella wood case with intricate design elements. There is a large tapestry on the western wall. A gold trimmed, red carpet runs to the south. There is a nameplate on the frame that says "Valanis Phellack", the original architect of the first shrine. He stands in a vast field where construction has taken place, clutching a satchel with rolled up design parchments stuffed inside. His features are somewhat plain, as if in a hurry, he left the painter to get on with his true business, finding no desire for historical document. ~ S #4893 Shrine Museum~ ~ &c A small corner of this makeshift musuem to shrine history. The gold trimmed carpet makes a sharp turn and heads east. There are some benches placed near a gigantic parchment that dominates the southern wall. Two brightly burning candles bathe it in a soft glow from above, encased in clear crystal orbs. The museum continues to the east, the staircase back down is north. ~ 1 0 0 D0 ~ ~ 0 -1 4892 D1 ~ ~ 0 -1 4894 E parchment~ Documented shortly after the catastrophe that annihilated the original shrine, it is a list of the dead, the wounded, the missing, and the otherwise gravely affected. Under all of their names is a quote from some forgotten piece of shrine doctrine, it states, "'For every injustice, and every sleight, for every crime and dark deed, beseech me, one and all, let me open my hands and have ten thousand souls run in.'" ~ S #4894 Shrine Museum~ ~ &c The immaculate gold trimmed carpet makes another severe turn and heads north to the end of its journey. There is one last piece in this museum and it rests on the eastern wall. A huge mural done in paint and pastels. It easily takes up the entire wall from top to bottom. There is dark stairwell to the north, leading up into yet more private areas of the shrine. The stairs down are back to the west and north. ~ 1 0 0 D0 ~ ~ 0 -1 4895 D3 ~ ~ 0 -1 4893 E mural~ A staggeringly large depiction of the final moments of the shrine, created from composite, from hundreds of eye witnesses and survivors, some of whom relayed their tales with their final breaths. In the mural, a large demonic figure looms above the mountains in the far background. Its arms are lanced out, pike straight, as it directs the sorcerous fireball on its fated path toward the shrine. The fireball is a mass of green and yellow flames, with a strangely molten core. It is striking the western wall, upon the moment of first impact, at a downward trajectory. In the moments after this, most of the shrine will be obliterated, as well as all of its occupants. ~ S #4895 Private Stairwell~ ~ A cramped, carpeted stairwell leading even higher into the tower above the shrine of Mnera. A bronze rail spirals tightly around the center column. Wall sconces burn merrily, interspersed along the dark coil of stone. There are two large torches flanking either side. The floor here is carpeted with plush violet rushes with gold fringed trim. The ceiling above is convex. An intricately crafted holy symbol has been etched into it and dyed with blue inks. To the east lay a dark alcove, the stairwell leads down into the shrine museum. There is a polished bronze track bordering it on all sides, as well as an ornamented tree bough hung above a large, sturdy oak door. This area belongs to the shrine's keeper, Rastaba. He has worked dilligently to restore this place to its former glory in the world since the destruction occured. His quarters are to the east. A huge round table lay in the middle of the room, with chairs all around. It would seem as if Keeper Rastaba likes to hold meetings here. A comfortable looking straw stuffed bed resides on the west side of the room, with a driftwood chest at its foot. The largest piece of furniture, however, is the massive book shelf, containing many tomes and parchments written about Mnera, the shrine, and the order in general. There is a small door on the eastern wall, leading into a smaller chamber.
