strange warmth flows from the cracks and fissures of the altar stone.

sigils flap in the errant breezes.

~
A tidy path has been made here from flat river stones. The prodigious 
overgrowth has been beaten back and manicured into a stylish wildflower 
garden. A small guide fence has been built on either side of the track. A 
large burbling fountain briefly cuts the path in two. It continues on to 
the north. Sounds of songbirds fill the air.

A Turn In The Path~

&CThe stone path makes a loping, westerly turn here, as chiseled white 
blocks appear in the ground to create a more solid path than those of the 
river rocks. It's easy to see why the path meanders here, an ancient tree 
blocks the northern route. Its ashen branches are too numerous to count, 
dappled with enormous leaves. Some have been devoured by insects and left 
as tattered as ragged clothing. The stone path continues to the west.

Reception Atrium~

Between two granite arches on the road to the shrine of Mnera. The floor 
here is made of cleanly cut cobbles with a sigil patterened in lighter 
rocks. A trellis made of wood slats spans the arches, as delicate vined 
plants and flowers hang from above, mixing in the air to create a sweet 
fragrant odor. The shrine of Mnera is to the north.

The Shrine of Mnera~

&CThe stone pathway leads to a huge street made of rough hewn marble 
slats, each as wide as a wagon and long as a boat. The work required to 
set them must have been immense, the dedication complete. The Shrine of 
Mnera, recently reconstructed after a dark siege, dominates the northern 
sky. Bold stone spires reach up to grasp the clouds, situated around the 
pale yellow dome of the main structure. Two sets of massive double doors 
are set equidistant from the middle of the building, where a gorgeously 
rendered mural of Mnera resides.

&c Standing amidst a small avenue that spans the length of the temple's 
front entrance areas. The avenue runs east and west. The Mnera mural is 
visible in great detail from this location. It almost seems to shimmer and 
bloom in the available light. The road back out of the shrine lies to the 
south. There are gilded lantern poles on either side of the stone path.

The mural stands ten arm spans high, and twice again as wide. In bold 
style on the bottom right, amongst the river reeds vividly painted in 
greens and yellows, is the signature "Dalovan" . The goddess is depicted

Around her, the world blooms with a beautiful frenzy.

Entrance To The Shrine~

Clean cut marbled steps lead up to a pair of massive stone doors set in 
the northern face of the shrine building. Flanking it on either side are 
two bronze sentinel statues. They bear no armor, weapon, or adornment, but 
instead hold their arms out in a gesture of peace and love. The doors are 
heavy, but seem to swing easily by some bit of magic. The shrine road runs 
east to west.

A Traveling Merchant's Cart~
~
A wise merchant has established his trade here on the western end of the 
shrine road. Since being rebuilt, this holy ground has been a busy place 
for pilgrimage and those seeking the wonder of the temple. The wagon is 
firmly rutted in deep tracks, as if it hasn't been moved for several 
weeks. A team of laborers refreshes the stock in the bins and shelves as 
the merchant himself barters loudly. The shrine road is back east.

Entrance To The Shrine~

&cThe eastern entrance to the shrine, dubbed the "moon doors" for the 
strange decorations of the doors themselves, which sit flush against the 
large temple walls. The doors are flanked on either side by giant trees 
which have infused themselves into the rock walls, becoming a part of the 
shrine itself. To the east is a small fruit stand. The shrine road 
continues to the west, where the shrine doors lay.

The stone doors have a deep scar embedded in the rock. A vicious magical 
slash of lightning carved a crescent moon across both doors. The edges

A Fruit Vendor's Stall~

An enterprising local farmer dug himself in here at the shrine shortly 
after it re-opened, and has turned his entire life around. His family 
sells an array of fresh fruits and foods from their farmstead, while the 
father carts back and forth with fresh sales. The stand is ramshackle and 
utilitarian, but the abundance of produce looks deliciously inviting. The 
shrine road is back west.

In the first tapestry, a large scale battle is taking place in a dense 
forest. The soldiers are all faceless, save for one high in the trees with 
a longbow. In the second, a body is falling backwards, peppered with 
magical injury and arrows. In the third, a skeletal form is bathed in a 
sivlery light from a crescent moon.

Shrine Antechamber~

This is the main chamber leading into the shrine of Mnera. It's a sparsely 
decorated marble room with an enormous archway on the north wall that 
looks into the main area of the shrine. Vast columns support the webwork 
of stone beams that make up the roof and ceiling chambers. The shrine 
proper is to the north, the entry ways flank either side of this small 
chamber. There is a large round violet carpet on the floor here.

This area is enclosed with a short wooden wall with an entry point on the 
north and east sides. There are large sitting pillows strewn about 
haphazardly. A bronze statue sits in a small alcove on the southern wall. 
Water flows through her hands and drips from her fingertips into a sweet, 
fragrant bowl at her feet. This is said to be the main prayer, and 
meditation area of the shrine. There is a large spiral staircase leading 
up to the west.

A Spiral Staircase~
~
This area of the shrine is little more than alcove with a spiral staircase 
leading up into the second floor of the building. The stairs themselves 
are a rich black iron, expertly shaped into a perfect coil around a marble 
pillar. The rail is scaled like the skin of a dragon with an ornamental 
tail swirling down to touch the floor.

Center Of The Shrine~
~
Beneath the pale yellow dome is a webwork of crafted glass, creating a 
mosaic in the image of Mnera. Beyond the glass is a strange luminescent 
source that makes it sparkle brilliantly from above. The dazzling colored 
rays of light pierce into the shrine below and illuminate the solemn 
marble columns and floors with a warm glow. The Altar of Mnera is to the 
north. The exits of the shrine are back south. There are some annexes to 
the west and east.

Shrine Proper~

The eastern area of the shrine is filled with large metal shelving arrayed 
in ranks from north to south. The shelves are full of blossoms and plants. 
Some followers bring the shrine a plant or blossom to represent the loss 
of a loved one. Tended to by the expert hands of a Mnera monk, and in the 
presence of the divine, they may last quite a long time indeed. There is 
an alcove to the east with a staircase leading up.

A Spiral Staircase~
~
A darkened alcove on the eastern side of the shrine. A silvery white, 
metallic staircase spirals its way up, wrapping tightly around a marble 
pillar and disappearing into the ceiling. A preciously thin gold wire with 
hand wrought leaves and blossoms is woven around the rail. The shrine is 
to the west.

Shrine Annex~
~
An elaborate candelabra rests against the north wall here. Flanking it on 
either side are two statues of bronze children, holding their arms up 
straight and far, reaching to light the candles with a stick match that 
burns a ghostly blue. The entire work is gorgeously rendered. This area of 
the shrine is dimly lit, lending a playful dance of light to the 
children's faces.

Approaching The Altar~
~
A small path forms in the middle of the shrine here, leading to the altar 
in the northern alcove. The lush carpetry underfoot gives way to a vast 
floor stone mosaic of a crescent moon in purple stone against white. 
Marble steps lead up to the altar dais, with intricate candelabras on both 
sides. The air is febrile with holy energy.

Shrine Annex~
~
This area of the shrine is dark, save for a small candle resting on a 
marble pillar in the middle of a circular bench that surrounds it. On the 
far north side are two bronze figures locked in the throes of grief, one 
attempting to comfort the other, who poses in despair. This is usually the 
place for followers to mourn the passing of those souls which Mnera could 
not see through their trials.

~
A calm feeling of tranquility whorls around this area of the shrine, like 
a gentle storm wind of good will. The altar is positioned on a raised 
marble dais beneath a south facing stained glass window with a gorgeous 
depiction of Mnera, granting salvation and reprieve to an army of wounded 
soldiers. The shrine proper is back to the south.

Shrine Corridor~
~
The staircase below melts into the wall seamlessly. This white tile 
corridor with wooden beams interspered along the length is decidedly 
handsome. There are some wooden benches against the walls, making it seem 
as if it is a place of congregation for a few of the people who live in 
the shrine. The hallway continues south, the staircase leads below into 
the main area of the sacred building.

The quiet shrine corridor is stopped short on the southern wall by a large 
stone archway. Its edges are gilded and polished bright. There are

Grand Hall~
~
The Grand Hall of the shrine is mostly off limits to casual patrons and 
pilgrims of Mnera. The shrine staff, and other devotees can bed down here, 
or share a private conversation away from the hustle and bustle down 
below. Lacquered wood slats run from one end to the other, and the stone 
walls are pearly white. The grand hall continues to the east.

Grand Hall~
~
Palm frond reliefs decorate either side of the grand hall. A bronze rail 
runs the length of the entire hall, polished to a keen glow. Behind the 
rail are tall brass poles with blooming sconces at their ends. Each has a 
brightly burning silver flame at the end. The grand hall continues east 
and west. Dark wood beams criss-cross above in the strangely pitched 
ceiling. Dried azura tree vines are wrapped and lacquered around them, 
creating an odd living beam look.

Grand Hall~

&c The sprawling grand hall continues on here. A still life sits on the 
northern wall, opposite a massive oak door on the south wall. A monk's 
living quarters reside there. Only special ranking members of the shrine's 
order are given leave to live within the shrine itself. It takes a 
particularly adept devotee to attain this honor. The grand hall continues 
east and west.

It's a simple wooden chest with a strange iron bowl atop it. The bowl 
contains fragrant rosewater with fresh petals spilled inside. A silver 
goblet lay to its left, tipped over and forgotten by somebody long ago. 
There is an ivory white candle in a dull copper holder at the corner of 
the chest, all sitting atop a red silk cloth.

Grand Hall~

&c The center of the grand hall. It branches off to the north, where set 
within a stone alcove lay a spiral staircase leading up. In the middle of 
the floor here is a circular mural done in painting and etched relief. 
There is a small metallic guard rail surrounding it, so that hapless folks 
do not sully the portraiture. The grand hall continues to the east and 
west. The alcoved stairwell is to the north.

Mnera astride a white horse with a glinting silver mane. She is awash in 
flowing violet silks. Her hand rests low as a destrier mounted knight 
prepared to charge a rank with weapon at the ready, yet her small hand 
clutches a branch of the vilota tree. The thorns dig deep into her palm 
and a steady trickle of blood hangs suspended in the air as she rides on.

Inside the grand hall of the shrine. It stretches on to the east and the 
west in a particular splendor. The south wall of this area has a heavy 
wooden door leading into an acolyte's private quarters. A brilliant vase 
of pulian blossoms and fruscieta steams rests on a small wooden table 
opposite the door.

The corridor ends abruptly here. The southern wall is cut away in a 
bulbous, arched pattern, sawed into raw stone. Metal sconces have been 
bolted in place. The flames dance on unseen winds, purple and yellow,

staircase back into the shrine is north.

Secret Crypt~
~
A secret crypt beneath the shrine. When the body of the original Keeper 
was discovered, mangled and partially destroyed, they built a grave of 
honor for him beneath the new Shrine of Mnera. The room is simple, carved 
into living limestone with little adornment, but the location is very 
grandiose. There is a small alcove on the north wall where the body may 
rest, were it to rest. There are strange potsherds and broken artifacts 
about, pieces of detritus and other debris have been fused into the walls, 
perhaps by the magical fireball that sundered the original shrine. There 
is a small ladder leading back up into the temple.

Thirten's Quarters~

These quarters belong to Brother Thirten, a high acolyte of the shrine of 
Mnera. The room is minimally furnished. A small writing table is on the 
western wall, meticulously loaded with paper, ink, and quills. The 
upholstered stool looks to be on its last leg. A bed mat is on the 
southern wall. There is a chest at the foot of the mat with an incense 
burning cup. The grand hall is back to the north.

Private Stairwell~
~
This stairway is sparsely lit. A cobbled stone affair built into the wall 
itself to appear very non-descript and out of the way. The stone tiles are 
chilled and slick in some places from condensation. There is a dark wood 
rail wrapped around the inside wall leading up into the shrine museum. The 
grand hall is to the south.

Dalabreen's Quarters~
~
Acolyte Dalabreen's quarters are lavishly decorated. To the point that it 
would seem some of the more subtle nuances of the vow to Mnera all 
devotees take may have been lost somewhat on him. There is an exquisite 
stuffed mattress on a raised wooden track against the south wall, with a 
palm frond display overarcing it. An enormous writing desk dominates the 
eastern wall with a comfortable looking stuffed chair tucked underneath. 
He also has amassed a tidy book collection that sits organized within a 
deprella wood case with intricate design elements. The grand hall is back 
to the north.

Private Stairwell~
~
The stairwell here is slick and treacherous. Phosphorescent mould has 
spawned and thrived along the ceiling. It's quite obvious that this area 
sees very little light, sun or otherwise. What's more, very little in the 
way of cleaning. The stairwell runs up and down.

&c The precarious stone stairwell lurches onward, and upward. There is a 
small plaque bolted to the wall here. A magical sconce beneath it limns 
the engraved letters in ghostly blue light. The treacherous stairway

a doorway lays.

&c A small museum was crafted here, to honor the memory of the original 
shrine, and all of the occupants who died in its vicious siege, as well as 
the architect himself. There is a large tapestry on the western wall. A

to the grand hall.

A brilliantly painted portrait of a grim looking man. There is a nameplate 
on the frame that says "Valanis Phellack", the original architect of the 
first shrine. He stands in a vast field where construction has taken 
place, clutching a satchel with rolled up design parchments stuffed 
inside. His features are somewhat plain, as if in a hurry, he left the 
painter to get on with his true business, finding no desire for historical 
document.

&c A small corner of this makeshift musuem to shrine history. The gold 
trimmed carpet makes a sharp turn and heads east. There are some benches 
placed near a gigantic parchment that dominates the southern wall. Two 
brightly burning candles bathe it in a soft glow from above, encased in 
clear crystal orbs. The museum continues to the east, the staircase back 
down is north.

Documented shortly after the catastrophe that annihilated the original 
shrine, it is a list of the dead, the wounded, the missing, and the 
otherwise gravely affected. Under all of their names is a quote from some 
forgotten piece of shrine doctrine, it states, "'For every injustice, and 
every sleight, for every crime and dark deed, beseech me, one and all, let 
me open my hands and have ten thousand souls run in.'"

Shrine Museum~

&c The immaculate gold trimmed carpet makes another severe turn and heads 
north to the end of its journey. There is one last piece in this museum 
and it rests on the eastern wall. A huge mural done in paint and pastels. 
It easily takes up the entire wall from top to bottom. There is dark 
stairwell to the north, leading up into yet more private areas of the 
shrine. The stairs down are back to the west and north.

A staggeringly large depiction of the final moments of the shrine, created 
from composite, from hundreds of eye witnesses and survivors, some of whom 
relayed their tales with their final breaths. In the mural, a large 
demonic figure looms above the mountains in the far background. Its arms 
are lanced out, pike straight, as it directs the sorcerous fireball on its 
fated path toward the shrine. The fireball is a mass of green and yellow 
flames, with a strangely molten core. It is striking the western wall, 
upon the moment of first impact, at a downward trajectory. In the moments 
after this, most of the shrine will be obliterated, as well as all of its 
occupants.

A cramped, carpeted stairwell leading even higher into the tower above the 
shrine of Mnera. A bronze rail spirals tightly around the center column. 
Wall sconces burn merrily, interspersed along the dark coil of stone. The

Private Stairwell~
~
The stairwell runs aground in a small stone foyer. There are two large 
torches flanking either side. The floor here is carpeted with plush violet 
rushes with gold fringed trim. The ceiling above is convex. An intricately 
crafted holy symbol has been etched into it and dyed with blue inks. To 
the east lay a dark alcove, the stairwell leads down into the shrine 
museum. A chilly draft caresses the walls and stone steps.

Gloomy Alcove~
~
A deep indent of stone and wood into the tower walls. There is a polished 
bronze track bordering it on all sides, as well as an ornamented tree 
bough hung above a large, sturdy oak door. This area belongs to the 
shrine's keeper, Rastaba. He has worked dilligently to restore this place 
to its former glory in the world since the destruction occured. His 
quarters are to the east. The stairwell back down into the museum is west.

Keeper Rastaba's Quarters~
~
A spacious living space atop the restored shrine tower. The walls are 
covered in thick tapestries to keep the ever-present chill from tunneling 
in. There is also a large fireplace, currently unlit. A huge round table 
lay in the middle of the room, with chairs all around. It would seem as if 
Keeper Rastaba likes to hold meetings here. A comfortable looking straw 
stuffed bed resides on the west side of the room, with a driftwood chest 
at its foot. The largest piece of furniture, however, is the massive book 
shelf, containing many tomes and parchments written about Mnera, the 
shrine, and the order in general. There is a small door on the eastern 
wall, leading into a smaller chamber. The stairwell is back to the west.

Keeper Rastaba's Private Chambers~
~
A small chamber barred by a wooden door. Rastaba uses this area as an out 
of the way office from his regular quarters. There is a writing desk 
against the eastern wall with many drawers and compartments. It is loaded 
with papers and quills. A small bookshelf is on the north wall, containing 
ledgers and historical documents of domestic, and financial issues. 
Rastaba's main quarters are to the west.
