However, this falls into :the 'two muds in one' trap. In some aspects, it can appear rather :contrived, and only existing as a means of attracting pure Socialisers. Hmm. This triggered a thought... Background: I allow online building in my world, but normally only by designated "builders". However, the basement of the Builder's Guild has a "Playpen" area, where everyone is a builder, but nothing they do in there can leave that area, and there are a couple other restrictions. It works fairly well, and in some early tests, when I pointed the area out, people spent a fair while in there playing around. So, could you not have a special area in the MUD where all of the normal socializing stuff does work? A bit of creativity should be enough to come up with a story as to why the area exists. If its a fantasy MUD, then perhaps it is a wierd area a high wizard setup long ago in the past. For a high-tech MUD, perhaps it is a night-time use of a VR training facility or something. -- Chris Gray cg#ami-cg,GraySage.Edmonton.AB.CA

Prev by Date: Re: [MUD-Dev] Mud Languages

Next by Date: Re: [MUD-Dev] Dots in a name?

Prev by thread: Re: [MUD-Dev] Dots in a name?

Next by thread: Release out!

Index(es):

Date

Thread

Thread context:

Re: [MUD-Dev] Dots in a name?, Chris Gray cg#ami-cg,GraySage.Edmonton.AB.CA, Sun 10 Aug 1997, 18:12 GMT

Re: [MUD-Dev] Dots in a name?, Matt Chatterley root#mpc,dyn.ml.org, Sun 10 Aug 1997, 18:51 GMT

Re: [MUD-Dev] Dots in a name?, Martin Keegan martin#cam,sri.com, Sun 10 Aug 1997, 23:43 GMT

Re: [MUD-Dev] Dots in a name?, Matt Chatterley root#mpc,dyn.ml.org, Mon 11 Aug 1997, 06:28 GMT

Re: [MUD-Dev] The 'Socialiser' problem, Chris Gray cg#ami-cg,GraySage.Edmonton.AB.CA, Sun 10 Aug 1997, 18:12 GMT
Release out!, Chris Gray cg#ami-cg,GraySage.Edmonton.AB.CA, Sat 09 Aug 1997, 17:17 GMT
Dots in a name?, Martin Keegan martin#cam,sri.com, Sat 09 Aug 1997, 16:41 GMT

Re: [MUD-Dev] Dots in a name?, clawrenc clawrenc#cup,hp.com, Thu 14 Aug 1997, 00:24 GMT

Signing off..., Brandon Van Every vanevery#blarg,net, Sat 09 Aug 1997, 04:54 GMT

[ Other Periods | Other mailing lists | Search ]
