Event based systems are old, as old at least as message based/passing systems. Them old fogey host guys (Hi Jon! <kof>) were doing message passing systems back when S/390 and S/360 where the freshest and newest things since sliced bread, and long before anyone even thought about objects. X is a pretty good and familar example: Its massively non-OO, and almost entirely event based (there were non-event hangovers as of X11r3 which was the last time I got to study the X guts. X11r6 is hopefully cleaner if not moderately pristine as an event system). Emacs is also a pretty decent event based system if you squint and look at it just right/wrong (I loathe Emacs). -- J C Lawrence Internet: claw#null,net ----------(*) Internet: coder#ibm,net ...Honourary Member of Clan McFud -- Teamer's Avenging Monolith...

Prev by Date: Re: Greetings. :)

Next by Date: Re: Introduction

Prev by thread: Re: Event-driven?

Next by thread: Re: Event-driven?

Index(es):

Date

Thread

Thread context:

Re: Event-driven?, (continued)

Re: Event-driven?, Nathan Yospe yospe#hawaii,edu, Fri 04 Apr 1997, 12:23 GMT

Re: Event-driven?, Shawn Halpenny rsh#dos,nortel.com, Fri 04 Apr 1997, 23:05 GMT

Re: Event-driven?, Chris Gray cg#ami-cg,GraySage.Edmonton.AB.CA, Sun 06 Apr 1997, 02:14 GMT

Re: Event-driven?, coder coder#ibm,net, Mon 07 Apr 1997, 01:05 GMT

Re: Event-driven?, coder coder#ibm,net, Mon 07 Apr 1997, 08:34 GMT

Re: Event-driven?, Jon A.
