I've been skimming over some of the web pages at <A HREF="http://www.cs.wisc.edu/shore/">http://www.cs.wisc.edu/shore/</A> and might bear some more looking into. It seems the development team has layered the implementation in such a fashion as to allow a client to mount a front end onto the storage manager as desired (giving a handy interface to the nuts-and-bolts of the I/O) while allowing the client to deal with the objects externally (to the storage manager, anyway) however it pleases. It's got a CORBA feel to it, as well as an interesting property of allowing the database to be accessed similarly to a file system as well (reflective of ClearCase version control, for those who've worked with it). -- Shawn Halpenny "Cheese love people." </PRE> <!--X-Body-of-Message-End--> <!--X-MsgBody-End--> <!--X-Follow-Ups--> <HR> <ul compact><li><strong>Follow-Ups</strong>: <ul> <li><strong><A NAME="00476" HREF="msg00476.html">Re: [MUD-Dev] Databases</A></strong> <ul compact><li><em>From:</em> coder#ibm,net</li></ul> </UL></LI></UL> <!--X-Follow-Ups-End--> <!--X-References--> <!--X-References-End--> <!--X-BotPNI--> <UL> <LI>Prev by Date: <STRONG><A HREF="msg00389.html">Re: [MUD-Dev] Monthly FAQ posting</A></STRONG> </LI> <LI>Next by Date: <STRONG><A HREF="msg00391.html">OT: This is a test</A></STRONG> </LI> <LI>Prev by thread: <STRONG><A HREF="msg00499.html">Re: [MUD-Dev] Clients and things [Was: OT: This is a test]</A></STRONG> </LI> <LI>Next by thread: <STRONG><A HREF="msg00476.html">Re: [MUD-Dev] Databases</A></STRONG> </LI> <LI>Index(es): <UL> <LI><A HREF="index.html#00390"><STRONG>Date</STRONG></A></LI> <LI><A HREF="thread.html#00390"><STRONG>Thread</STRONG></A></LI> </UL> </LI> </UL> <!--X-BotPNI-End--> <!--X-User-Footer--> <!--X-User-Footer-End--> <ul><li>Thread context: <BLOCKQUOTE><UL> <LI><STRONG>Re: [MUD-Dev] OT: This is a test</STRONG>, <EM>(continued)</EM> <ul compact> <LI><strong><A NAME="00392" HREF="msg00392.html">Re: [MUD-Dev] OT: This is a test</A></strong>, Alex Oren <a href="mailto:alexo#bigfoot,com">alexo#bigfoot,com</a>, Sun 08 Feb 1998, 09:43 GMT <UL> <LI><strong><A NAME="00393" HREF="msg00393.html">Clients and things [Was: OT: This is a test]</A></strong>, Matt Chatterley <a href="mailto:matt#mpc,dyn.ml.org">matt#mpc,dyn.ml.org</a>, Sun 08 Feb 1998, 12:32 GMT <UL> <LI><strong><A NAME="00470" HREF="msg00470.html">Re: [MUD-Dev] Clients and things [Was: OT: This is a test]</A></strong>, coder <a href="mailto:coder#ibm,net">coder#ibm,net</a>, Mon 16 Feb 1998, 01:45 GMT <UL> <LI><strong><A NAME="00499" HREF="msg00499.html">Re: [MUD-Dev] Clients and things [Was: OT: This is a test]</A></strong>, Matt Chatterley <a href="mailto:matt#mpc,dyn.ml.org">matt#mpc,dyn.ml.org</a>, Mon 16 Feb 1998, 23:20 GMT </LI> </UL> </LI> </UL> </LI> </UL> </LI> </ul> </LI> <LI><strong><A NAME="00390" HREF="msg00390.html">Databases</A></strong>, Shawn Halpenny <a href="mailto:malachai#iname,com">malachai#iname,com</a>, Thu 05 Feb 1998, 21:19 GMT <UL> <LI><strong><A NAME="00476" HREF="msg00476.html">Re: [MUD-Dev] Databases</A></strong>, coder <a href="mailto:coder#ibm,net">coder#ibm,net</a>, Mon 16 Feb 1998, 04:51 GMT </LI> </UL> </LI> <LI><strong><A NAME="00385" HREF="msg00385.html">RE: [MUD-Dev] Monthly FAQ posting</A></strong>, Koster, Raph <a href="mailto:rkoster#origin,ea.com">rkoster#origin,ea.com</a>, Tue 03 Feb 1998, 22:12 GMT <UL> <LI><strong><A NAME="00389" HREF="msg00389.html">Re: [MUD-Dev] Monthly FAQ posting</A></strong>, Adam Wiggins <a href="mailto:nightfall#user1,inficad.com">nightfall#user1,inficad.com</a>, Thu 05 Feb 1998, 03:40 GMT </LI> </UL> </LI> <LI><strong><A NAME="00384" HREF="msg00384.html">Re: [MUD-Dev] Ada?</A></strong>, Cynbe ru Taren <a href="mailto:cynbe#muq,org">cynbe#muq,org</a>, Tue 03 Feb 1998, 20:45 GMT </UL></BLOCKQUOTE> </ul> <hr> <center> [ <a href="../">Other Periods</a> | <a href="../../">Other mailing lists</a> | <a href="/search.php3">Search</a> ] </center> <hr> </body> </html>
