> Ok..maybe I missed something, but I didn't see where this would be
> announced. In addition, I don't see where any of this is "on topic".
> Finally, I joined this list to learn about advanced design and
> coding topics, not be spammed by the list owner about some
> "experiment" that occured 4 years ago, regarding things that I am
> not interested in. I have learned some, but for the most part I
> think the "signal to noise" ratio that was bragged about here just
> dropped down a singularity.

There are many here who ARE interested in mud governance, the
implications of social structures, security issues and the effects of
free user-programming. All of which are amply illustrated by the
Darkover logs. I AGREE, One log was probably enough to illustrate
the point.

However, a subtle and even more important concept is that design and
coding do not exist in a vacuum. There are huge implications from a
user perspective to what one designs and codes. This goes far beyond
the "easier to use" and "client interface issues". These social and
environmental issues are probably more interesting to those of us who
are designing role-playing, social and/or user-progammed servers.

If you don't think these are design issues. I would merely point
out that the Darkover scenario could not occur on an Ackmud! server.
So, yes it's probably white noise to you.

> I'd be willing to run another developmental discussion list if
> others are interested, but I've had enough here.

I'm always interested in new resources and forums. I have yet
to unsubscribe from any of the mud lists I'm on. But then I don't
demand that any of them service my needs exclusively. :)
