Comments? This immediately triggers the memories of The Rock, now deceased, which had the turn limit per day. The rule for the limit wasn't quite fair - the more you play, the higher is a limit, but the very idea I liked - because, as you noticed, addicts really do have an advantage. It's difficult to determine who's addict and who's not - say, would I have had more time, I'd play more, probably, and it happens that, say, today I have just 30 minutes to spare, tomorrow it's 8 hours. What I would suggest is to introduce something like the aging - the more you play, the more difficult it becomes for you to advance - and it looks good in-character, I believe. Of course, this is just a raw idea. And, other idea was to allow some free time and make the players pay for the rest, and there were more - here we have Sauron, who was close to the development team and probably will tell much more about the proposed solutions than I can. > Jay // Cimri -- Still alive and smile stays on, Vadim Tkachenko <vt#freehold,crocodile.org> -- UNIX _is_ user friendly, he's just very picky about who his friends are </PRE> <!--X-Body-of-Message-End--> <!--X-MsgBody-End--> <!--X-Follow-Ups--> <HR> <ul compact><li><strong>Follow-Ups</strong>: <ul> <li><strong><A NAME="00722" HREF="msg00722.html">META: Broken mail headers</A></strong> <ul compact><li><em>From:</em> coder#ibm,net</li></ul> <li><strong><A NAME="00721" HREF="msg00721.html">[MUD-Dev] Turn-based MU*'s</A></strong> <ul compact><li><em>From:</em> Sauron <dlove#kusd,kusd.edu></li></ul> </UL></LI></UL> <!--X-Follow-Ups-End--> <!--X-References--> <!--X-References-End--> <!--X-BotPNI--> <UL> <LI>Prev by Date: <STRONG><A HREF="msg00718.html">RE: [MUD-Dev] (no title) Time limits?</A></STRONG> </LI> <LI>Next by Date: <STRONG><A HREF="msg00720.html">RE: [MUD-Dev] (no title) Time limits?</A></STRONG> </LI> <LI>Prev by thread: <STRONG><A HREF="msg00740.html">Re: [MUD-Dev] (no title) Time limits?</A></STRONG> </LI> <LI>Next by thread: <STRONG><A HREF="msg00721.html">[MUD-Dev] Turn-based MU*'s</A></STRONG> </LI> <LI>Index(es): <UL> <LI><A HREF="index.html#00719"><STRONG>Date</STRONG></A></LI> <LI><A HREF="thread.html#00719"><STRONG>Thread</STRONG></A></LI> </UL> </LI> </UL> <!--X-BotPNI-End--> <!--X-User-Footer--> <!--X-User-Footer-End--> <ul><li>Thread context: <BLOCKQUOTE><UL> <LI><STRONG>META: topic and thread culling (was Re: [MUD-Dev] Balancing Addicts -> soft vs. hard enforcement )</STRONG>, <EM>(continued)</EM> <ul compact> <ul compact> <ul compact> <LI><strong><A NAME="00742" HREF="msg00742.html">META: topic and thread culling (was Re: [MUD-Dev] Balancing Addicts -> soft vs. hard enforcement )</A></strong>, J C Lawrence <a href="mailto:claw#under,engr.sgi.com">claw#under,engr.sgi.com</a>, Tue 17 Mar 1998, 19:43 GMT </LI> </ul> <LI><strong><A NAME="00725" HREF="msg00725.html">[MUD-Dev] Re: Balancing Addicts</A></strong>, Richard Woolcock <a href="mailto:KaVir#dial,pipex.com">KaVir#dial,pipex.com</a>, Mon 16 Mar 1998, 20:54 GMT </LI> <LI><strong><A NAME="00741" HREF="msg00741.html">Re: [MUD-Dev] Balancing Addicts</A></strong>, J C Lawrence <a href="mailto:claw#under,engr.sgi.com">claw#under,engr.sgi.com</a>, Tue 17 Mar 1998, 19:30 GMT </LI> </ul> <LI><strong><A NAME="00740" HREF="msg00740.html">Re: [MUD-Dev] (no title) Time limits?</A></strong>, J C Lawrence <a href="mailto:claw#under,engr.sgi.com">claw#under,engr.sgi.com</a>, Tue 17 Mar 1998, 19:30 GMT </LI> </ul> </LI> <LI><strong><A NAME="00719" HREF="msg00719.html">Re:</A></strong>, Vadim Tkachenko <a href="mailto:vt#freehold,crocodile.org">vt#freehold,crocodile.org</a>, Sun 15 Mar 1998, 02:46 GMT <UL> <LI><strong><A NAME="00721" HREF="msg00721.html">[MUD-Dev] Turn-based MU*'s</A></strong>, Sauron <a href="mailto:dlove#kusd,kusd.edu">dlove#kusd,kusd.edu</a>, Mon 16 Mar 1998, 00:39 GMT </LI> <LI><strong><A NAME="00722" HREF="msg00722.html">META: Broken mail headers</A></strong>, coder <a href="mailto:coder#ibm,net">coder#ibm,net</a>, Mon 16 Mar 1998, 01:37 GMT <UL> <LI><strong><A NAME="00734" HREF="msg00734.html">Re: [MUD-Dev] META: Broken mail headers</A></strong>, Alex Oren <a href="mailto:alexo#bigfoot,com">alexo#bigfoot,com</a>, Tue 17 Mar 1998, 11:48 GMT <UL> <LI><strong><A NAME="00799" HREF="msg00799.html">Re: [MUD-Dev] META: Broken mail headers</A></strong>, J C Lawrence <a href="mailto:claw#under,engr.sgi.com">claw#under,engr.sgi.com</a>, Sat 21 Mar 1998, 00:27 GMT </LI> </UL> </LI> </UL> </LI> </UL> </LI> </UL></BLOCKQUOTE> </ul> <hr> <center> [ <a href="../">Other Periods</a> | <a href="../../">Other mailing lists</a> | <a href="/search.php3">Search</a> ] </center> <hr> </body> </html>
