Document History:
The logger itself was coded by our Number One Bad Boy of MOO Code, Racer-X.
Racer designed it to do the following: It captured ALL says, emotes, pages,
whispers, @shouts in the WHOLE MOO. It logged them based upon room name.
The conversation from each room was recorded in a property named after the
room itself for each room in the MOO in which activity actually occurred.
The logger then used netmail to forward the logged activity - each letter
containing the log of one room - every 30 or 15 minutes, depending on which
version of the MOO we were running since the last crash. :-)
Document Conventions:
This document then, is a dump of the actual email file of the account
which it was mailed to. A perl script was used to strip out the most
irrelevant parts of the mail headers.
I also cleaned it up (in a DOS editor) to meet the 80-wide standard.
MUCH duplication was cleaned out as well. Some still (I'm sure!) exists.
Why? Because when the MOO crashed, the last saved db was booted up again,
including the last log contents. Thus, each instance of duplication was
an instance of a forced reboot from an old db. This happened about 10-15
times during the course of the 1 1/2 days.
Each line of text has the person's name who generated that line (via page,
emote, say, whatever!), as well as a time stamp. Ex: [78546351]. These
time stamps represent the number of seconds since midnight Jan. 1, 1970.
This is the standard MOO clock. I added the time stamps to Racer's code
to enable us to match up real-time occurrences across different rooms.
