It is my idealistic belief that if something in a mud is blatantly out of line with the way the real world works then something in not implimented right in the mud... No, tailors dont have to nor did they ever have to become great warriors in order to make clothes. Lets try this: You want to be a tailor but you get keep dieing at the hands of rude pkillers. What is there to do? Become a great warrior? Naaa.... Its simply this. With all the tailors dead theres no one to make clothes, and all the great warriors are in danger of freezing to death without them. This drives the price of clothes through the roof and suddenly anyone who can do needlepoint and survive long enough to make a sail will be rich. Buffy makes a killing on a few sales to freezing warriors, hires a dozen bodyguards, installs trap doors and murderholes in the workshop and moat around the cottage. If pkillers are taking out the non-combatent players this SHOULD drop the supply of nessarry items, therein shooting up the prices, therein offering those non-combantents more resources with wich to ply their trade. Allowing killing is not the problem: the lack of a "complete" system allows for unbalance ( such as the lack of power/use of non-combatents ) Orion

References:

[MUD-Dev] Re: Affordances and social method (Was: Re: Wired Magazine...)

From: Adam Wiggins <adam#angel,com>

[MUD-Dev] Re: Affordances and social method (Was: Re: Wired Magazine...)

From: Marian Griffith <gryphon#iaehv,nl>

Prev by Date: [MUD-Dev] Re: Support for remote NPCs

Next by Date: [MUD-Dev] Re: Output Classification Notes, version 061098

Prev by thread: [MUD-Dev] Re: Affordances and social method (Was: Re: Wired Magazine...)

Next by thread: [MUD-Dev] Re: Affordances and social method (Was: Re: Wired Magazine...)

Index(es):

Date

Thread

Thread context:

[MUD-Dev] Re: Affordances and social method (Was: Re: Wired Magazine...), (continued)

[MUD-Dev] Re: Affordances and social method (Was: Re: Wired Magazine...), Caliban Tiresias Darklock caliban#darklock, com, Fri 24 Jul 1998, 22:18 GMT

[MUD-Dev] Re: Affordances and social method (Was: Re: Wired Magazine...), Adam Wiggins adam#angel, com, Sat 25 Jul 1998, 01:58 GMT

[MUD-Dev] Re: Affordances and social method (Was: Re: Wired Magazine...), Marian Griffith gryphon#iaehv,nl, Sat 01 Aug 1998, 21:56 GMT

[MUD-Dev] Re: Affordances and social method (Was: Re: Wired Magazine...), Marian Griffith gryphon#iaehv,nl, Thu 09 Jul 1998, 19:38 GMT

[MUD-Dev] Re: Affordances and social method (Was: Re: Wired Magazine...), Orion Henry orionZ#ix,netcom.com, Sat 11 Jul 1998, 03:42 GMT

[MUD-Dev] Re: Affordances and social method (Was: Re: Wired Magazine...), J C Lawrence claw#under,engr.sgi.com, Fri 31 Jul 1998, 23:01 GMT

[MUD-Dev] Re: Affordances and social method (Was: Re: Wired Magazine...), Marian Griffith gryphon#iaehv,nl, Sat 01 Aug 1998, 21:57 GMT

[MUD-Dev] Re: Affordances and social method (Was: Re: Wired Magazine...), Robert Woods rwoods#nebula,honors.unr.edu, Sun 02 Aug 1998, 01:11 GMT

[MUD-Dev] Re: Affordances and social method (Was: Re: Wired, Jon A.
