> [Greg Miller]
>
>What I'm getting at is that you seem to be more interested in getting us
>to admire Achaea than you are in figuring out (with our help) how to
>improve Achaea. Improving our muds is the main point of this list, as I
>understand it.

This attitude seems to be implicit, and probably (hopefully) accidental on
Matt's part. I find that there are three sorts of posts to this list:

1. I can't figure out the intricacies of designing/implementing feature X,
hyelp meeee...! Replies will probably help others encountering the
same/similar problem - now, or in the future (the archives are so useful).

2. I will probably never/have no inclination to implement feature X, but
it's cool to talk about, and may help someone else - maybe even a lurker.

3. This is what I have done, anyone done anything similar? This helps in two
ways: getting others to talk about similar things that they have done, and
creating a mutually useful thread, giving people new ideas.

So. Posting will either help you and others along the way, or allow you to
share the results of you stumbling along in the dark - you get there quicker
when someone offers you a candle. The list as a whole seems to be about
helping people, really.

And what could be a better objective than that?

I was surprised when Matt revealed he ran a pay mud, to be quite honest. He
seems to be largely inflexible in his opinions - and I doubt that would go
down too well when dealing with paying customers (players). I'd say you
would get more out of this list if you approach it with the opinion that
whatever you are developing is the worst mud ever. At least you are a bit
more receptive to the opinions of others :-)

Just my 2 bits. No disrespect to Matt intended.
Greg.
