<PRE>
Hello everyone,

Thought that I would post a quick note on this subject, it's been fairly
interesting so far. Recently have started my own MUD project (roughtly 6
months ago..) and have been debating porting over code I've written for
previous projects. These have all been other MU* projects, specifically
Talkers.

It's quite interesting to see the differences and similarities that run
through these two situations. With a MUD, there is plenty to do if someone
is around.. namely level and hoard gear, etc. However on a Chat, if no one
is around then the user is for the most part bored out of their mind and is
tempted to leave. Being an Administrator for a new Chat then becomes a
problem of keeping the place active at all hours to prevent from users
logging on and leaving.

This lead me to program a multitude of games to try and keep users
interested while waiting for others to show up. Or even promote
communication amongst online users. "Original" games included:

Battleships - 2 player game, very nice
Scrabble - up to 4 players, very nice
Wheel of Fortune - 3 player, fun but boring
Hangman - single player version of WoF, not fun, boring
[These two games used the same database for answers]
Minesweeper - single player game, tedious and not fun
Mastermind - single player game, quite fun/challenging
Trivia - single player game, had database of rougly 5k questions with
multiple choice answers
Mad Libs - up to 5 player game, very fun
 Casino Games -- Relatively boring
Poker - up to 5 players per 'table'
Blackjack - single player game, boring
Slots - single player game, very boring

Probably left out a few pointless games that never got played, things such
as Paper Rock Scissors were fairly common amoung most Chats. Not sure how
these games would fit into a role playing environment. Any input on this
would be much appreciated.

-Jesse
